Every Fourth Friday #EFF, is an opportunity for me to give clients past and present the shout out they deserve. Everyone I work with puts in an unbelievable amount of hard work and dedication. This helps their journey in achieving their individual goals and makes working with them so rewarding.
A little about Jo:
Jo was introduced to me through a referral from the club I used to work at. It's the usual way I obtain clients. It was a nice process though as they thought we would work well together and as it tuned out we did. Jo was relatively fit when she came to me. She ran outside a couple times a week and when she went to the gym she ran on the treadmill and used various other cardio machines. I think it would be safe to say she wasn't sure what other training methods she could use to maximise her time spent in the gym to see the results she wanted. We chatted over coffee as I do with most of my potential clients to find out what she wanted from personal training and what her short and long term goals were. the bottom line was she wanted to get fitter and look fit.
After out first session together she never looked back. We looked at various training methods and the one we stuck with was resistance/strength training. This is something Jo had not really done in the past, but thoroughly enjoyed it and it worked well for her in achieving her goals. She was lifting weights and most importantly enjoying doing so. After all you have to enjoy what you do. Jo started to come into the gym with confidence as she now was armed with the know how to lift weights with correct technique, something I pride myself on, rather than stick to what she had done in the past.
Her squats, deadlifts and accessory work came on leaps and bounds. I remember the first time she noticed all her hard work was paying off. At the start of one our our sessions Jo told me, one weekend she went out for one of her regular Saturday morning runs, she approached a hill in the route which caused some issues in the past. She powered up that hill like it was a flat. It was no longer and issue, her leg strength, glutes and all round body strength improved massively making her a stronger and better runner. It's little achievements like that, which lead to the big drum roll goal.
From there on, Jo never looked back and smashed her goals, left right and centre. We worked together for 18 months before my wife and I decided to go and see the world. I have met up with her since and it's great to see her continue to push her self in the gym. As a trainer this is the best outcome, I have passed on my knowledge and she has taken everything on board and implemented it in they're own routine. Amazing Jo, Well done!
The funny thing about one persons fitness journey is that you are never happy to settle, you always want to strive for perfection.
Here's what Jo had to say about my Personal Training Service:
What was the problem you needed solved?
I had become bored with my fitness routine. I was predominantly a runner and felt that I wasn't getting results in terms of how my body looked for the effort I was putting in. I wanted to learn more about strength training and nutrition.
Why did you choose Calumn as your Personal Trainer?
I was allocated Calumn as my PT by the gym I was a member of. He came very highly recommended by others.
How did he solve your problem?
Calumn first of all talked to me about my fitness, my attitude and beliefs about what I thought I should be doing. He explained how I could adjust my fitness regime/habits to see more of a difference. He introduced me to weights and strength training. For the first time in my life, I left the gym sweating and I didn't set foot on a treadmill. More importantly, he taught me that cardio is not the be all and end all! Thank goodness! He also taught me and planned numerous routines which kept things different and interesting .. Something which I definitely needed.
How was his solution unique?
It was unique in that he taught me and talked me to me as we tried new exercises. He didn't push me into anything, just guided me.
What did you particularly like about his approach or delivery?
He listened and customised a plan that suited me. He's very easy to talk to and friendly and he has an open mind. He didn't try to impose his own preferences of exercise on me, instead planned routines that suited me.
How would you summarise your experience as a whole?
I attended PT sessions with Calumn for 18 months. He has helped me to COMPLETELY change my attitude to fitness and exercise and has provided me with the knowledge I need to see changes in my body which I'd never have achieved if if kept running on a treadmill!
Would you recommend his business to other? If so, who?
I would 100% recommend his business to others. In fact, I introduced my husband to him for advice and he began
Providing a testimonial to clients is away for me to ensure that i am doing a good job, this is an opportunity for the clients to be totally honest with me. Maintaining high standards in my service is the key to success, happy clients = happy trainer.
