It's that time of the month where I decided who deserves the highly acclaimed, high demand and highly regarded Every Fourth Friday Award aka #EFF.
This award is an opportunity for me to give clients a public shout out for all the hard work they have achieved in the month. Everyone I work with puts in an unbelievable amount of hard work and dedication which makes their journey in achieving their individual goals very achievable. That's what makes my job so rewarding.

This month the award goes to Callum for his hard work and commitment to his training programme. Long may it continue to reach to reach your new goals.
A Little About Callum:
I've been working with Callum on and off for 2 years now. For his initial goal, Callum wanted to focus on the rehabilitation of his injured shoulder which he got from his sport of shooting. His aim was to move pain free and get his shoulder/body as strong as he could so he could compete again. Granted, I did't know to much about his sport apart from what I saw on TV. I did a bit of background studying, spoke with Callum in depth about the effects shooting has on the body. The very unorthodox stance and the downward pressure the rifle put on his shoulder, it was no wonder over time his shoulder issue got progressively worse. I treated him like I would any other client and focused on getting him stronger than he was before and injury free.
I started looking at the comparison and the feedback of both shoulders through simple mobility tests and strength tests. I worked along side his physiotherapist, which in it's self was a great experience for me. She was able to look at how the injury may have occurred and with that info we could look at building a strength programme totally unique to Callum's needs.
The process wasn't quick but it was extremely rewarding seeing the progress that Callum was making on a weekly basis through all his hard work and dedication. Looking back on it, it took the best part of 4 months to get his shoulder back to what you would class as normal moving shoulder. I just didn't focus on his shoulder but making his core the strongest it could be to help with his stance and shooting accuracy.
Fast forward 18 months and he was able to get back to shooting, felt better, looked better and was strogner than ever before.
Callum was an absolute joy to work with, it was hard work for him. His dedication in making early morning sessions to get his shoulder stronger, committing to the programme and committing himself to the bigger picture helped with his rehabilitation.
Between myself being taking sometime off to go travelling and Callum taking some time off to go to Australia to catch up with family we are now working together again. This time it's for a completely new goal he's set for himself. I have no doubt that with the same levels of dedication, commitment and trust he will achieve his goals again. Remember it's not the destination, it's the Journey along the way.

CDPT: What was the problem you needed solved?
CS: Weakness in muscles around left shoulder blade and lower back.
CDPT: Why did you choose Calumn as your Personal Trainer?
CS: I felt Calumn’s back ground in sport specific training would be a great starting block for him to quickly grasp the issues I was having and identifying the best solutions.
CDPT: How did he solve your problem?
CS: Calumn worked with my Physio and myself to identify exactly how the issues occurred in the first place and we developed a plan on how the best way to resolve the issues would be with out impacting on my sport training.
CDPT: How was his solution unique?
CS: Calumn spent a large amount of time researching my sport and working with my Physio, far longer than most other PT’s would. His dedication to the cause and motivational skills were fantastic even when things were getting tough or the rehabilitation wasn’t going quite to plan.
CDPT: What did you particularly like about his approach or delivery?
CS: The approach that Calumn took was to become part of the team. Nothing was too much trouble and it was always service with a smile. He certainly took the attitude of working together and of a friend rather than someone just providing a service.
CDPT: How would you summarise your experience as a whole?
CS: I worked with Calumn for close to two years and while a lot wasn’t easy (who enjoys being told what to do?!?) he made the journey as simple as it could be explaining exactly what he was proposing and why. This made it much easier for me to keep motivated.
Seeing the results and rehabilitation of my back was fantastic and which I never expected to happen. I don’t think it would have without Calumn’s dedication.
CDPT: Would you recommend his business to other? If so, who?
CS: Any with sport specific training needs, fat loss or bulking goals.
