Videos & Blog Posts To Help You Build Incredible Habits To Help Get Your Healthier, Happier, Fitter & Stronger
Are you doing any resistance based training right now? May that be with resistance machines or in the weights room in your gym. If your answer is no I’d like you to dedicate a few minutes to this blog post to understand why and how including strength training into your exercise routine can benefit you.
I feel like we need to talk about this until every woman will understand that lifting weights will not make them look like a man. This is the general concern from those who have never tried it.
Thanks to different hormonal balances a female body struggles to build manly shape and amount of muscle unless you train with that goal of mind, sacrifice your social life, tasty food and take some hormones for muscle growth.
If in doubt, just google female bodybuilder interviews and see what they say. Now, let’s get down to business, here are 6 reasons why every woman should strength train.
1. You will burn more calories
When you are a beginner, after only a few weeks of strength training you will see changes in your body shape. Provided your diet is designed to serve your goal, you will build some quality muscle that will help you shed fat quicker. Having more lean muscle mass will boost your metabolism, in other words more muscle needs more energy just to be, let alone when working out.
2. You become more confident
Imagine with only a few works into your new routine and you will look different in that evening dress, and feel stronger in performing daily tasks. Realising that you are stronger than you thought in training will transfer to other areas of your life and boost your self-confidence on every level.
3. Your cardio performance will get a kick too
If you think about athletes of any kind, runners, cyclists or swimmers. The elite doesn’t only become elite because they practice their sport over and over again. They, with the help of their coach create a training routine that includes strength training for their specific goals to improve their weak areas.
Translating this to average people: if you love running or cycling and start to spend a few days strengthening your legs, glutes and core every week for a good few weeks you’ll see improvement in your athletic performance. Why? Because stronger muscles can generate more speed and power with the right technique.
4. Your bones will become and stay stronger for longer
You probably heard that women are at high risk of osteoporosis as they grow old due to bone loss in aging. Now, you may say that’s still far for you, but strengthening your bones from as early as possible can slow done bone loss in and beyond your 40s and reduce risk of osteoporosis.
5. You will see results quickly
Sometimes the reason we struggle to keep up with new lifestyle habits is because it takes too long to see results from them. Strength training is different in that sense when you’re a beginner.
After only the 1st week you’ll feel stronger and within a few weeks you can see how your body s performing differently on certain tasks you really struggled on week 1. In terms of body shape, so long you follow a balanced, portion controlled diet, you will see how losing body fat can make a difference in your appearance.
6. You can decrease the chance of injuries
Many people who are just starting exercising, regardless of the type, may that be running, playing sports or attending the gym end up injured within weeks or months because their joints or muscles can’t deal with the added demands. Strength training, started from the basics and built up gradually will help your joints, bones and muscles to become stronger over time and prevent injuries.
I trust these reasons give you a notch to look into how you can include some strength training into your routine regularly. My advice is, if you have never done it before, find a coach in your area who is focused on helping women become stronger, leaner and more confident to introduce you to the movements and ensure correct technique on the exercises.
