5 Lifestyle Hacks for Fat Loss9/28/2018 That Have Nothing to Do with Exercise or NutritionOften my clients see the greatest progress on their fitness journey when they stop being obsessive about their workout regime and nutrition habits and start living a lifestyle they enjoy but is also full of healthy lifestyle habits. 5 lifestyle hacks for fat lossWhether your goal is to lose weight, tone up certain areas of your body or just hit a personal best in your sport, often the best results come when you forget micro focusing on the steps and immerse in habits that you enjoy but also practice others that make it easier for you to stay on track without having to stress about it. Hack #1. SleepI can’t highlight the importance of sleep enough. It’s the simple best strategy to helping to solve almost ANY problems you experience with your body. Fatigue, illnesses, DOMS and other pain can all be made less apparent by ensuring you get a decent sleep each night. In a sleep deprived state, you will feel hungrier, you will be more irritable, will be able to focus less and will feel you have no willpower. Whatever challenge you are facing right now, start fixing it by having a decent sleep tonight. Not tomorrow or next week. Tonight. Hack #2. Forget the Word “DIET”Or don’t but give it a different meaning. Unfortunately, diet has a negative connotation to it because the industry built on fat loss have been abusing it for decades. The original definition of the word diet is: “the kinds of food that a person, animal, or community habitually eats”. Anything about restrictive eating was added later. So, I recommend you to either totally delete this word from your vocabulary, at least for a while, or re-wire the definition in your mind and stop feeling like you are punishing yourself. Hack #3. Keep an Open Mind When Scheduling Workouts By no means, if you have lots of time on your hands and are happy to spend hours on the gym every day that brings you the results you desire, keep at it. Most people however don’t have that luxury and need to fit their workouts around a very busy and hectic schedule. If that’s you, listen up. When you’re tight on time and there isn’t a chance you can make it to the gym, just take 30 minutes out and use your own body for a killer bodyweight HIIT workout. I guarantee if you put the effort in you will be puffed out after 20 minutes. That’s all you need. Sometimes even 5 minutes is more than nothing. Hack #4. Visualise Yourself Already the Way You Want to Look Some of you might think that this is bollocks. However, scientist did a small research study in the past to find out how much of our achievements are down to actions and how much is brain power. Lucky for us they did it on a strength experiment, it can’t get any more physical than this, even if it was about the little finger and the elbow. The results show that those who only did “mental contractions” still achieved improvement in the assessed strength. While this study is hardly enough to prove anything but performing a visualisation meditation every evening just before bedtime won’t cause you any harm, you can only win if it works. It will also help you relax which is already a win. Hack #5. Have Fun! Seriously. Jus do it. Do you like going to the theatre or cinema or let your hair down at a live gig? Maybe you just love going on a shopping trip or enjoying a meal out with your friends. There is nothing wrong with pursuing those activities while on a weight loss journey. Don’t let your fat loss goal stop you from doing things you enjoy. It will only result in you feeling miserable and less motivated to put the work in. So, go out and socialise, experience art or dance like nobody’s watching. Whatever floats your boat. Just let some steam out. Would you like to read more articles? Sign-up to regular updates.
