A question that comes up often with both in-person and online coaching clients. I don’t blame you. When you Google that question, the range of answers on the internet and the amount of contradicting solutions are overwhelming even for me. This post will attempt to clear the air.
I have worked with hundreds of women during my personal training career, I have also watched the female members of the family struggle from symptoms of their menstrual cycle I could never understand.
I felt I needed to investigate this topic, so I can have a deeper understanding of how to tackle the effects of the cycle on my clients’ workouts and lifestyle in general. If you are a man as well, you may want to read on too if you have a significant other, a daughter or a mother who could use this information.
The Means not the End, Gratification as a Source of Energy
Have you ever heard the phrase “The great thing about chopping wood is that it warms you twice”? I like this perspective because it highlights the value in everything, functions that are multiple and hidden benefits accessible from appreciating every interaction, pleasure attainable from maintaining positive focus on the presence of whatever makes up one’s reality.
Having worked with a wide range of clients, anxiety had come up at many consultations when we were discussing stress levels. Emotional and physical stress, anxiety or panic attacks can all contribute to elevated stress levels and disrupt sleep length and quality. Now when you have a body composition goal in mind, all these can jeopardise your success. But have you ever thought about how your diet could make your anxiety worse?
About a year ago I went to see a shaman, curious as to know what he saw about me, I asked his clairvoyant self, to which choosing from his observations answered directly “You my dear have abandoned yourself, and thus let yourself open to abuse”.
Holiday season hasn’t even started but we’ve been lucky with the weather, having had real summer weather for over a month now. It’s only normal that more people take their workouts outdoors to enjoy the nice weather and make the most out of the sun while they can.
For the 4th article in my series of contributions, the lovely Calumn has challenged me to write on Meditation as this months subject to explore.
Many of my coaching clients report at the time they start working with me that they have tried all the diets and none of them worked for them. Sounds familiar? Keep reading.
120km For The Scottish Association for Mental Health.
Last month I decided to sign a team up for a pretty big challenge which is to cycle 120km in a closed road event in September. This very exciting event is called Tour O The Borders and will take place in the Scottish town of Peebles.
Every year I like to do something pretty cool for charity, last year myself and a few clients slept out in Princess Street Gardens with 9,000 participant to raise money for Social Bite. It turned out to be one of the coldest nights of the winter with temperatures getting to a rather chilly -11 degrees.
This challenge will be a little different, but equally as rewarding, as we look to raise as much money as possible for SamH and the Brewgooder Foundation.
